North Carolina melted down the stretch against Alabama to blow our Thursday Look of the Day, bringing our record to 1-2 on the week with one void. Let's switch over to the diamond and target our favorite bet for Friday's MLB slate.
The premier matchup of Friday's MLB slate is going down at Citizens Bank Park, as the Philadelphia Phillies will host the Atlanta Braves in an NL East showdown. Both lineups are always dangerous, but we're trusting the pitchers in this one.
Spencer Strider has been dominant against the Phillies in the regular season. In seven career starts against Philly, the hard-throwing right-hander is 7-0 with a 1.90 ERA and 72 strikeouts. He's never given up more than three runs in a start against the Phillies in the regular season, and he's gone at least 6.0 innings in all seven starts.
On the other side, Zack Wheeler has also enjoyed a ton of success against the Braves in recent years. Wheeler is 6-2 with a 2.35 ERA and 87 strikeouts in his last 11 starts against Atlanta dating back to 2021, and he gave up one earned run or fewer in six of those starts.
If the elite pitching duel isn't enough to convince you, the wind will also be blowing strongly in from left field with gusts up to 31 miles per hour. Ballpark Pal projects a 28 percent decrease in home runs and a 20 percent decrease in runs at Citizens Bank Park Friday due to the strong winds and chilly weather.
We love the under in this matchup.
